Beaches & Boating
Known as
the Gateway to the Gulf, Bonita Springs is the home of pristine beaches,
freshwater creeks and canals which tread charmingly through
neighborhoods, and lagoons serenely tucked between the mainland and
mangrove islands in the gulf of Mexico. These lagoons create
hideaways for great fishing.
Water activities abound here. Kayaks and
canoes are perfect along the freshwater creeks. Enjoy an intimate
peek at nature as you paddle through these waters. Perhaps you
will venture out into Estero Bay where you may very well find some of
our local dolphins at play. And, pay attention to your
surroundings. You will be in for a treat if you spy one of our
beautiful, majestic blue herons or a snowy egret.
There are clearly marked beach access points
with free parking for your enjoyment of our delightful, clean white
beaches.
Parks
There are a number of parks throughout our area with plenty of activity
and interest for young and old alike.
Carl E. Johnson Park - You will
enjoy your walk along the boardwalk through lush vegetation and wildlife
habitats on your way to the beach.
Lover's Key Recreational Area - A
charming boardwalk-bridge awaits you here. You will cross over
aquamarine waters teaming with Florida marine life on your short journey
to the beach.
Delnor -Wiggins Pass State Recreation
Area - Located south of Bonita Beach, this park continues to awe
visitors with its lush tropical foliage, unspoiled beaches and full line
of services. If you would prefer bicycling or in-line skating, you
may cruise beach roads as well as inland areas though charming older
neighborhoods.
Koreshan State Park - Located in nearby
Estero, this Historic Site is home to Florida pines and gnarled oak
trees. Narated tours are offered through the historic
buildings. Here you will find picnic grounds and a beautiful
nature filled river which is perfect for canoes.
From festivals to the performing arts, there is
plenty to entertain you. The
Arts
Art League of Bonita Springs - Located in the
heart of Bonita Springs, the Art League of Bonita Springs offers day,
evening and weekend classes helping members as well as non-members bring
their imaginations to life with a host of media.
Drawing, pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolors and mixed media can all be
found here. Within the walls you will find grand sculptures,
delicate mobiles, photographic works of art and more.
Philharmonic Center for the Arts -
Located in Naples, south of Bonita Springs, offers such fine performers
as the Miami City Ballet and the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra.
You will enjoy unparalleled seasons tilled with wonderful music, dance
and theater.
Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall -
Located north of Bonita Springs in Fort Myers, Florida on the Edison
Community College campus, the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall
brings drama and dance as well as plays and performances to it's
audiences. There is also a collection of visual arts here as well.
Sports
If you enjoy golf, there are over two dozen regulation courses within 10
minutes drive. There is also miniature golf for the less
competitive. These courses are quite creative in their

Bonita Springs Recreation Complex
- Here you will find lighted tennis courts, swimming pool, roller
hockey rink and ball fields.
TECO Arena - Located in Estero, here you
may enjoy professional hockey. Watch the Florida Everblades take
to the ice during season. In addition to hockey, TECO Arena
offers ice and inline skating at as well as performances by top-name
entertainers.
Lee County Sports Complex - Located in
Fort Myers, is the training site for The Minnesota Twins.
City of Palms Park - Also located in
Fort Myers, is the training site for the Boston Red Sox.
